Call Me By Your Name
December 16, 2017 @ 6:15 pm - 8:40 pm UTC+10
Brisbane Queer Film Festival are hosting a Brisbane Advanced Screening of Call Me By Your Name, pre festival film for the festive season!
2017 has been another incredible year for Queer film and as we head towards our 2018 festival we’d love to share some of this year’s best films at the fantastic New Farm Cinema.
Call Me By Your Name is the film everyone’s talking about. Luca Guadagnino’s Oscar buzzed film “arrives like the gift of a jar of summer fruit preserved lovingly by hand. Apricots or peaches, probably.” The conclusion to his desire trilogy, follows on from I am Love and A Bigger Splash, Call Me By Your Name is based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel by Andre Aciman.
“And then the day dawns, the light of morning bringing clarity, maybe. Sunshine beams across the lush lawn as Oliver joins Elio and his parents for breakfast, untutored in the ways of soft-boiled eggs and village geography. Elio peers across the table. The camera mimics his eyes, landing on a small, silver Star of David dangling from Oliver’s neck, shown in sudden close-up and framed by the V of his unbuttoned collar. A pang of desire ripples across the screen, announcing Elio’s quiet enchantment.” Matthew Jacobs – Entertainment Reporter, HuffPost
