Alongside their day-to-day personalities as partners, office workers, mothers, and retirees, this riveting documentary unveils people’s fully formed Furry alter-egos. We meet Boomer the Dog, a maligned and possibly misunderstood dog trapped in a man’s body, and also Freya Fox and her partner Iikato who are trying to raise their daughter as part of the real world and the furry community. On the other side of this community, we have Varka, a self-proclaimed ‘cocksmith,’ most proud of his cum lube, and how the adult industry represents the furry way of life.
Furries are all over the globe, but this is focused on a particular chapter in the United States, the complex relationships between each member and their furry persona, as well as with each other in an increasingly politicised world.
Behind the scenes and in front of the most mainstream events, we have Uncle Kage, a devoted furry who wants to lead them and beat them into normalcy with his own, somewhat sadistic, sense of purpose and humour. He’s divisive and authoritative, and it’s surprising to see which characters end up on his side.
A fascinating, illuminating peek into a little-glimpsed but often fetishised world of immersive, interactive, communal role play.
