Gold Coast’s Bigsound 2017 Showcase
September 7, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm UTC+10
BIGSOUND 2017 will be the second year Gold Coast has flexed its musical muscle at the international showcase event.
With Karl S Williams, Driven Fear and Jesswar already included in the BIGSOUND lineup, organisers of the Gold Coast Music Awards today announced a Gold Coast showcase which will take place at lunchtime on Thursday 7 September.
There’s something big happening with Gold Coast’s live music scene and this is your chance to meet three of the bands at the coalface. Featuring IVEY, Ella Fence and Eliza and the Delusionals, we know that you know that Gold Coast knows how to party. You probably don’t want to miss this particular party.
Having supported Miami Horror, The Vanns, Mosquito Coast, Tiny Little Houses and Ocean Alley, recording with Konstantin Kerstin and scoring prime slots at events like Surfers Paradise LIVE, Blurst of Times, Shakafest and Caloundra Music Festival, Gold Coast’s favourite garage band, IVEY haven’t even got started. A sold-out headlining show at Gold Coast’s Venue of the Year, elsewhere’ was no surprise, nor were the rave reviews for latest single ‘Last Week’ from Indie Shuffle, triple j and Music Feeds.
In between their busy touring schedules, Ivey have been writing consistently, building a strong repertoire of new music, with plans to release their next single mid 2017. With a growing and enthusiastic fan base, a high energy live show and a fierce young work ethic, the rest of 2017 looks to be quite large for the Gold Coast act.
Led by colourful front woman Eliza Klatt, Eliza and the Delusionals have been making waves since their inception in early 2015, releasing debut single ‘The Ground’ and rolling out two Australian tours in 2016. Second single ‘Salt’ was described by Dom Alessio as ‘a fuzzy stab of power pop that’s sure to brighten your day’ and it was named a finalist for Song of the Year at the Gold Coast Music Awards in 2017. They’ve supported Ali Barter, Polish Club and UK rockers Moose Blood as well as Killing Heidi’s national tour. They’ve been triple j unearthed’s feature artist and have toured internationally and showcased at Canadian Music Week.
Cinematic-electro-pop, with powerhouse vocals and compelling visuals. That’s Ella Fence in a nut-shell. The award-winning songwriter collaborated with APRA Award-winning songwriter producer The Audacious Vinnie LaDuce for new single ‘Cocaine’ and its predecessor ‘Dancer’. Both were received with adulation during Ella’s secret Motel Tour where fans heard unreleased tracks from the yet-to-be released EP. The Motel Tour was like no other. Seriously. A new live show with an all-female band of multi-instrumentalists saw the ladies turn motel rooms into pop-up live music venues, complete with a stage, lighting and a dance floor. The motels were none the wiser.
