Iraqi Short Film Festival

Watch a collection of award winning short films made by Iraqis in Australia and overseas telling their own stories about resilience, tradition and controversy. This festival’s program presents inspiring and thought-provoking stories:

1) Canberra Says No by Zahra Alsamawi, an Australian premiere by next generation asylum seekers challenging stereotypes about boat arrivals.
2) The Boss by Rizagar Husen, Kurdish insight into how dictators are made from within.
3) Jwan by Ali Al-Jabri, tells the story of a Yazidi woman’s ordeal kidnapped by ISIS.
4) The Black Land, by Daby Zainab Faidhi, an Iraqi woman’s fairy tale animation about Baghdad.
5) Implant, by Ammar Barakat, snapshot of a migrant’s feelings coming to Australia.
