February 19, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm UTC+11

Jonathan (Jannis Niewöhner) works on the family farm with his aunt Martha and cares for his terminally ill father, Burghardt. When Burghardt’s secret lover from his past, Ron, arrives to say a final farewell, a complex history emerges that will transform his last days and his relationship with his son.
Jonathan knows nothing of the stranger’s involvement with his father and resents the visitor. Martha clearly knows the history, and decides to greet Ron with a shotgun.
This moving drama tugs on emotional, familial ties, and explores the impact of a late coming out. As Burghardt and Ron tentatively rekindle their elegant romance, beautiful nurse Anka is hired. Her ability to see what others can’t brings her close to Jonathan.
Jonathan screened in the Panorama section at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival and won a Jury Prize (Best First Feature) at the Frameline San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival 2016 for German director Piotr J. Lewandowski.

“Director Piotr J. Lewandowski takes it a step further and unexpectedly entwines this coming-of-age film with a coming-out story, adding much to its calibre as a poignant tale of love not only between a father and his son, but between two best friends.” – FilmDoo
