Ever think about a past hook-up and wonder what would happen if you crossed paths again?
That idea forms the core of Lazy Eye, written and directed by Tim Kirkman (who helmed the acclaimed documentary Dear Jessie and the films Loggerheads and The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me). Dean (Lucas Near-Verbrugghe) heads to the Mojave Desert for a weekend away, and is joined by Alex (Aaron Costa Ganis), with whom he shared a brief but passionate affair in New York 15 years earlier.
Over the course of the weekend, things heat up between the two – their passion reignites, while the past is examined, secrets are revealed and a new intimacy forged. But will this sojourn into nostalgia, introspection and sex lead to something beyond the weekend, or will they again part ways?
Selected by several film festivals around the globe, Lazy Eye was picked by The Advocate as one of its favourite films of Outfest 2016, while Variety gushed, “there are far bigger dramas which don’t leave this kind of afterglow.”
With great performances from the two gorgeous lead actors, and a razor-sharp script from Kirkman, this low-key drama is thoughtful, funny, sexy and tender.
“Tim Kirkman’s drama about two men who reunite after 15 years is so well-written and acted you feel like you’re eavesdropping.” – Variety
“Exceptional. A delicate and touching story.” – LA Film Review
“A stirring triumph of a film, magnetic and mature.” – Jetspace Magazine
