RULE 34 presents Pop Culture Perversions SOLD OUT
September 6, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm UTC+10
September’s edition of Rule 34 is all about PERVERTING POP CULTURE.
RULE 34 – meaning if it exists or can be imagined, there is porn of it. No exceptions!
Erotic, absurd, filthy, fearless, funny and always unexpected – RULE 34 is a part-performance, part-storytelling event held monthly that pokes at the boundaries of controversy, while celebrating local underground performance talent.
No 2 shows are the same!
In the weird and wonderful world of Rule 34, nothing is sacred and this month is no exception.
This time around, we are PERVERTING POP CULTURE.
Pop culture is everywhere! From the moment we open our eyes we are baraged with notifications, loves, likes, shares and memes. Things that make us laugh. Things that make us mad. Things that confuse yet arouse us (well, that’s what we can promise…) Anyway, these shared references are one of the very things that bind us together. So, we figured, why not take the movies, music, video games, celebrities and brands we collectively know, love and loathe, and give them the Rule 34 treatment?
Think… when Harry Met Sally (and she pegged him)… Game of Moans… Britney Queers… Gremlins gone wild… Beliebers… My Little Porny… Janet Jackson’s boob gone rogue… Smurf porn… the anal obsession… the real reason Rose didn’t let Frozen Jack on the door even though she said she’d “never let go, Jack”… for starters… who knows what our cast of pop culture perverts will think up.

OPEN MOUTH DIRTY STORY TELLING COMP
Open Mouth is a segment that happens as part of Rule 34 each month, which gives 5 audience members the chance to get up and tell the class their original 5 mins (or less) story. Stories can be told in whatever format you like – from spoken word or slam poetry, to song, dance, skit, rant… the mic is open!
This month’s theme is POP CULTURE
Open Mouth ideas… read us some fan fiction… tell us about a pop culture-themed roleplay you did… tell us about the first time you watched porn (or performed in it)… it can be sexy or not… funny, heartfelt, ranty, you choose. This theme and the way you deliver what you want to say is as open as our minds!
* Your theme must be vaguely related to the theme!
* Up to 5 minutes only!
* We will draw 5 storytellers on the night to tell their story. If you don’t get picked, don’t worry. Similar themes will come up for you to tell your story!
* You can tell your story however you like – say it, slam it, sing it, interpretive dance it, bring props… it can be an erotic story, a fantasy, a true story, a joke, a poem, a story, stand up comedy, a song… whatever you like. The stage is yours (for 5 mins!).
* Shock us in a good way! Don’t be homophobic, transphobic, culturally-insensitive or mean-spirited.
* Don’t tell a story that doesn’t belong to you!
* Reading your story without paper is best but hey, we just want to hear your story, so bring your palm cards if that’s what it takes to get you up there!
