Niche are proud to present the return of Los Angeles native Thundercat to Australia. Having already been announced on the lineups for Sydney City Limits and Golden Plains Festival, and a festival called PANAMA, he will play two exclusive headline performances in Brisbane and Melbourne this March.
Forever a wildcat and wild card he is impossible to tame artistically. A true master of his craft, Thundercat joined thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies as a teenager, before spending time on the road and in the studio with everyone from Stanley Clarke to Snoop Dogg to Erykah Badu.
Thundercat is the alter ego of virtuosic bassist / singer Stephen Bruner. The South Los Angeles-native has released three critically acclaimed full length albums on Brainfeeder Records and mini-album The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam. He has also made outstanding contributions to landmark albums by Kamasi Washington (The Epic) and Kendrick Lamar (To Pimp A Butterfly), the latter of which netted him his first Grammy in 2016.
Thundercat’s third full-length studio album Drunk (Brainfeeder) was released in early 2017, and is a 23-track epic journey into the often hilarious, sometimes dark mind of the Grammy-winning singer/bassist. The follow up to his widely praised 2015 mini album The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam finds a few of his friends joining him along the way including: Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington and Brainfeeder mastermind Flying Lotus.
Since it’s release, Drunk has garnered wide praise including being named “Best New Music” by Pitchfork. He’s been featuring in a variety of media outlets talking about everything from his music (Rolling Stone, Noisey), to gaming and comics (Vulture, Kotaku) and his distinct style (GQ Style). He also sold out his entire spring North American & European tours.
This is an 18+ event.
